Staytite & Cressex Business Park 2025
Working in partnership with Cressex BID and BAPPharma we have helped to convert the lawn at Staytite into a mini meadow!
We will mow the perimeter only until autumn and then the whole area will have an annual cut and collect. This keeps nutrients down and helps create the perfect conditions for next years wild flowers.
Wildflowers are already on the way and we have added some chalk grassland specialist plug plants – ox eye daisy and Bird’s-foot trefoil grown at at our community nursery! That’s local provenance for you!
June 2025 Update
After just 3 months of transforming this former green desert of a ‘lawn’ we have thousands of ox-eye daisy, hundreds of buttercups, swathes of our beloved bird’s foot trefoil and dozens of orchids! Yes in the middle of an industrial estate, when given the chance to escape the mower’s blade we have 23 Bee Orchid at least 15 Pyramidal orchids – some are still very small as they flower into July.
May 2025
There are already lots of wildflowers on the way but we sped up the process in May planting plug plants and some flowers grown on further at our community nursery. We have installed mini-meadow boards up to explain what’s happening to passers by and site visitors.
