Biodiversity net gain

New Barn Farm

Restoration of nature is at the heart of New Barn Farm. It is nestled in the beautiful, Buckinghamshire countryside and surrounded by nature.  The 16 acre organic farm includes a vineyard, apple orchard, gardens, bee hives and free range chickens.   It is also home to a traditional farmhouse, cottage, shepherds hut and newly renovated 18th century tithe barn event space.

In 2025, we started work with Richard Woodfine and Liz Read to deliver their biodiversity net gain (BNG) plan on this small organic farm.  Our role is to diversify scrub age, species diversity and plant 390m of mixed native hedgerow across 4 locations.

This increase of Biodiversity Action Plan Priority habitat improves landscape connectivity for wildlife too.

To do this we have involved volunteers from local community groups including Chiltern Rangers Green Thursday Conservation Volunteers, Conduit Club, Beaconsfield School, 28th High Wycombe Scouts, HW CofE School, Chalfont Scouts, Sir William Borlase School and more!

114 volunteers attended one of the eight sessions that took place in 2025 giving over 360 hours of time.  43 of these volunteers were under 18.  Thank you all so much!

We are open to developing further projects that enable us to work alongside local communities to deliver a wide range of habitat enhancement activities.

By involving people directly in the restoration and improvement of their natural surroundings, we can help build ecological resilience while encouraging a strong sense of shared responsibility. This approach delivers clear environmental benefits and creates genuine social value through community involvement, skills development, and stronger local ties.
