Chiltern Rangers Work Experience Programme
In addition to individual work experience placements, we offer work experience programmes to young people collaborating with partner schools and colleges.
We aim to provide a successful, valuable, professional experience to young people as they start their journey towards the world of work. It is really important to us that every young person succeeds so we go through a formal process to ensure that each young person is ready to make the most of their time with us.
We will liaise with you to ensure that the student is ready for work experience. Some students with SEND or SEMH needs may need additional support or preparation for their placement to be a success and that is where our Stepping Stones to Employability Programme will be more appropriate.
Once we are sure that the student is ready and the work we offer is relevant, the student will complete an application form and come in to our depot for a work experience interview in preparation for their placement.
Students usually come for a week’s placement or once a week for a few weeks. They get a safety induction and then join ranger and volunteer teams doing practical conservation work around the Chilterns.
Where possible we review their progress and give them and their school feedback.
We encourage our work experience students to come back to see us and volunteer in the holidays and join other programmes we run such as New Shoots to develop their skills further.
