About Chiltern Rangers
Chiltern Rangers is a Community Interest Company founded in 2013, dedicated to protecting and enhancing the Chilterns National Landscape — one of England’s most ecologically significant protected areas.
Based in High Wycombe, we deliver practical conservation, education and community engagement across a landscape that millions of people live in and alongside.
Our mission is clear: enhance the Chilterns’ habitats through conservation, education and community engagement. Our vision is equally grounded: inspiring and enriching communities, enhancing local environments.
Our Impact
Since 2013 we have grown into one of the region’s most active conservation organisations. We help manage over 120 sites covering more than 1,000 hectares of chalk grassland, woodland, chalk streams, farmland, hedgerows and urban green spaces.
In 2026, around 7,000 adults and 3,000 under 18s volunteered with us, contributing almost 30,000 hours of conservation activity.
We worked with 130 community & corporate partners who share our commitment to a healthier natural environment and a better community to live.
What We Do
We work across three interconnected areas. Our land and habitat work delivers measurable conservation outcomes — including biodiversity net gain and rewilding — across the Chilterns National Landscape and beyond.
Our community and young people programmes connect people of all ages, abilities & backgrounds with nature, through volunteering, Duke of Edinburgh, employability support and schools engagement.
Our corporate partnerships help businesses make a genuine, locally-rooted environmental contribution.
Our Structure
We are a certified Social Enterprise, which means every pound we earn is reinvested back into our mission.
By generating our own income, we can continue delivering practical conservation work, supporting local communities, and creating lasting benefits for people and nature across the Chilterns.
