River Restoration
Kingsmead 2025
In 2025, we are working on two key projects at Kingsmead.
The first of these is Access & Understanding starting in February 2025. Thanks to funding from Chilterns National Landscape.
The main focus of this project is to fix the bridge and create a new pathway. We will also be increasing light and visibility into Kingsmead by thinning the tree canopy. We will also be hedgelaying and woodchipping.
As always there will be litter picking in abundance both in the river and in the park.

The second project is Rebel River Restoration funded by Rebel Restoration. This will be happening between February and May.
Our aim is to enhance 50 metres of the river Wye. We will be installing woody debris structures such as tree sweepers and berms to create a more natural river morphology.
This will result in more vegetation in the stream and on the bank side. We will be opening up the area by felling, coppicing and pollarding trees to benefit fish & aquatic invertebrate life as well as mammals and birds too!
Look out for wildlife such as Little Egrets, Brown Trouts, Mayflies, Kingfishers and Banded Demoiselles.
