Ivins Road Community Allotment

Located at the end of Ivins Road and bordering on Cut-throat Wood, the Ivins Road Community Allotment plot is located within Ivins Road Allotments, all of which are owned and managed by Beaconsfield Town Council. 

The plot is intended for the enjoyment of anyone and everyone in the local area that would like to get involved, particularly those with young families and/or are lacking outdoor space of their own.

In partnership with Beaconsfield Town Council and Community Board, Chiltern Rangers have worked with the Town Council over a number of years to clear the allotment space and build the community garden.

We’ve designed the garden to be accessible, with raised beds to reduce bending extra space underneath some of the beds for wheelchairs and the ground has matting underneath it to make getting around easier.

Getting involved in an allotment can have enormous benefits, no matter what your age and ability level.

Surrounded by like-minded gardeners, an allotment can be a fantastic way to meet new people and become part of a wider community, not to mention the enormous mental and physical health benefits that can be reaped (no pun intended) from getting outdoors and active.

In terms of the next generation, it can also help young people become excited about being outside and getting their hands dirty with some good old green-fingered gardening; teaching them more about where our food comes from and how we rely on the natural world around us for so much of what we eat.  

Last year we managed to grow potatoes and tomatoes, planted plenty of herbs plus some wildflowers to help our declining pollinators. We even have a Cherry and Apple Tree plus some currant bushes.

Over the years we are sure we will have plenty of food for everyone to enjoy!
