Urban Habitats

by | Mar 23, 2026 |

Much of the work we do is in urban areas and Chiltern Rangers play a vital role in creating and enhancing biodiversity across these spaces by working closely with local communities to restore and manage natural habitats, little pockets of green that you will see in your everyday life.

Our aim is to transform overlooked or underused spaces into thriving pockets of biodiversity, bringing nature into the heart of urban life. We work with Buckinghamshire Council, local businesses and residents to introduce pollinator-friendly planting in planters and verges, create wildflower meadows, wildlife friendly community gardens and many more.  We do this to increase vital habitats for insects, birds, and other wildlife. Even planting wildflowers in our high street, or creating mini habitats around car parks and public buildings—can significantly boost biodiversity.

We hope by doing this that we are not only supporting wildlife but also creating more pleasant, welcoming environments for people, helping to reconnect communities with nature in everyday settings.

What have we been up to?
