WORK EXPERIENCE

Here at Chiltern Rangers, we welcome work experience students in Years 10 and above including those over 18.

Our placements  involve a variety of practical tasks to ensure students experience the type of outdoor work relevant to a potential career in conservation, arboriculture or horticulture.

It is also a good alternative option for those considering careers as social workers or carers  as Chiltern Rangers often work with volunteers who have a range of disabilities and  learning difficulties including mental health problems.

If you are interested in joining us for your work experience, please contact us at info@chilternrangers.co.uk with the dates you would like to join us.  Spaces are limited and provided on a first come first served basis.

Once your dates have been agreed, we will ask you to send your completed form and arrange a date for you to come in for an informal interview.  The forms you need to fill in can be found below.

Chiltern Rangers have been working in partnership with Berkshire College of Agriculture for a number of years providing our students with a fantastic range of both industry placements and work experience.

John and his team of rangers are inclusive, enthusiastic and passionate about what they do. Combining the outstanding natural beauty of the Chiltern countryside with meaningful industry experience has allowed our students to thrive. They build confidence and self esteem, improve their communication and soft skills, and experience the importance of their local community and the impact they have as individuals.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Chiltern Rangers to any of our students here at BCA.

Working with Chiltern Rangers was a very positive experience.

I acquired many new skills with the opportunity to work within the local community. This improved my resilience and overall confidence in the work place.

BCA Student

My time at Chiltern Rangers consisted of cutting down various trees, wading and litter picking rivers and planting inside national and private lands.

All the rangers were kind and professional, creating a safe environment for both other workers and the volunteers. I felt I had a positive impact on both Chiltern wildlife and its general ecosystems during my work experience as I was given direct hands-on experience and I enjoyed my experience as a whole Oliver

Not In Education, Employment or Training (NEET)

We work with a variety of organisations to help engage with young people Not In Education, Employment or Training. We aim to boost job prospects, life skills and confidence as well as producing improvements to local woodlands.

Work placements

If our work experience offer doesn’t cater for your needs we are able to offer a variety of other options that are particularly useful for University/College students or those looking for a career change. We can offer one or two day a week long term placements, summer holiday placements or a bespoke placement to suit your needs.

All of our work-based placements are offered as part of a holistic approach to education which favours some students.  They include a preplacement interview which is great experience and preparation for those about to enter the work place for real for the first time.
