We’d like to introduce you to Henri Court, our Volunteer Voice for October.
Henri lives in the north of High Wycombe not far from the Hughenden woods and farmland. She has only been volunteering with us this year but is a familiar face as she has been donating plants to us for a while.
Henri has always volunteered – “I always volunteer somewhere, it keeps me happy. The natural environment is a lifelong passion and I spent much of my childhood outdoors, often along river banks. I then studied in the Snowdonia area. Chiltern Rangers made me an offer that I couldn’t refuse!
This autumn, I started a regular volunteering slot with Ranger Clem at Forest School. This is the perfect opportunity to be outside observing life up close and to share the enthusiasm of the children as they make discoveries for themselves and try out new activities and tools. I hope this will lead to a lifetime of interest in the natural world for them too.”
Her favourite flora/fauna are her garden and allotment companions. Elsewhere, she loves watching comical puffins, dabchicks diving, otters playing, beavers at work… and frogs.
Henri supports Wycombe Wanderers and can see the Sands Bank Nature Reserve from her seat.
This is what she has to say about anyone thinking of volunteering with Chiltern Rangers – “Do it. There will be something just right for you to do and a friendly welcome awaits so get in touch. It is an inclusive organisation. There are many things that I can’t manage to do but I know I am valued for what I can do and the time I have available to offer.”
