Loudwater School ‘Be a Ranger’ session at Kingsmead – July 2021

The lovely year 5s from Loudwater Primary School walked over to Kingsmead Recreation Ground to take part in a Be a Junior Ranger Day thanks to the Beaconsfield and Chepping Wye Community Board, Marsh and Micklefield Big Local and Heart of Bucks LEAP.

They had great fun being rangers making a difference cutting back overgrown paths and helping ranger Paul clear a huge willow branch that had snapped out over the path. They got into waders to investigate the creatures living in the river and sweep netted the meadow that the school has helped to rake over the last few years. We are so pleased to see that the diversity and quantity of flora is increasing thanks to several years of work.

We were so fortunate to receive thank you letters from the children. So hard to choose but below is just one!

Thank you so much for our lovely day on the Mead on Tuesday. Everyone so enjoyed observing our local wildlife up close in the chalk stream and meadow. The childrenĀ also felt really proud of clearing the footpath so the public could enjoy that stretch of the Mead again.
